I hadn't really thought about it seriously, just had the thoughts mumbling around, but reading some of my old vintage it struck me about the age difference and what that meant in terms of what was happening in the industry.Fiona Marsdenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00483455541888759566noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-909499415024110876.post-33186527112572934722014-07-05T03:48:13.287-07:002014-07-05T03:48:13.287-07:00Fiona,

There's always going to be a need for young women to read about that "first love" experience that they long for or are experiencing in the moment. And of course, there's ahem, older women who enjoy reading about it and reliving it. ;-) It's a very heady emotional time and it's an almost universal experience that every person will go through.

New Adult was a necessary revolution to fill that spot in the market place and it will continue there and adapt or change as it needs to as long as there are young women.Jillhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15364220221782320521noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-909499415024110876.post-86417716968507829442014-07-04T18:02:49.062-07:002014-07-04T18:02:49.062-07:00Thanks Yolanda. Of course I don't personally believe that a girl in her 18-20's can get married and live happily ever after for the rest of her life. I much prefer older (not old enough to be my parents though, because I'm not okay with that.) New Adult books provide competition to others because of the fun and exhilarating storylines. I've been reading romance novels since I was 10, having read most of the Nancy Drew series, with my parents' consent, of course.yolandahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13015243645110939862noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-909499415024110876.post-26283888177651470292014-07-04T07:47:56.852-07:002014-07-04T07:47:56.852-07:00Great article, Fi. The heroines from the romances I read as a teen (and I'm not going to say how many decades ago that was!!) were hardly ever more than 20. The heroes were almost always older but then, what teenage girl doesn't want the older, sophisticated man to fall madly in love with them?Carrie Nicholshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02196356052105424249noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-909499415024110876.post-81620159672571398952014-07-04T00:19:11.100-07:002014-07-04T00:19:11.100-07:00Thanks for the commentsThanks for the commentsFiona Marsdenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00483455541888759566noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-909499415024110876.post-70758486689067151772014-07-03T21:17:22.801-07:002014-07-03T21:17:22.801-07:00You are wonderful Fi.
